TASIK
CHINI – aborigine village
Tasik Chini (Lake Chini) is a string of more than 12
connected lakes of varying sizes. The surface of the
lake is black and in many places spiky pentenas grass
protrude from water surface. From June to September,
certain parts of the lake are covered with thousands
of pink and white lotus blossoms. According to Jakun
aborigine legend, the lake is the home of a naga (water
serpent), and is also believe to be the site of a sunken
Khmer city. Fishing, camping, jungle trekking, speed-boating
and visiting Orang Asli villages are the predominant
activities here. At Kampung Gumum, a Jakun aborigine
village, carvings and blowpipes are sold.
